鹤有许多别名，如仙客仙子、蓬莱羽土。鹤有仙气，故能一飞千里，于物为寿。于是有了松鹤延年，松龄鹤寿的美誉。

Red-crowned cranes have a number of names，such as“celestial guests，”“fairy maidens，”and“feather gentlemen from the Penglai Peninsula．”Red—crested cranes，having the qualities of a  celestial being，can fly one thousand miles．In Chinese paintings，cranes always appear perching on pines，indicating that in Chinese culture cranes together with pines are believed to be the embodiment of longevity.
